some of these games i'd still like to go back to, but for now i've got too much other stuff to check out before digging these back up. Because I'm bored at work I decided to do a little explanation beside each. Those games are below - in alphabetical order. I went through and input all the games I'd retired since 2014 (according to a personal calendar I keep). Replying to miked879 So this week I retired Ico. Valkyria Chronicles Remastered - Playtime: 2-3 hours. wasn't digging it then got stuck on a boss and quit. Titan Souls - Playtime: 2 hrs? way too difficult for my skill level. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D - Playtime: 5-10 hrs? after my third or fourth time getting stuck, then checking a walkthrough and saying to myself "no way i would have EVER thought of that" i put it away got to a point where i can't progress unless i go back and 3 star older levels. Super Mario 3D World - Playtime: half the game. haven't played a ton of horror games and this didn't do anything for me Resident Evil: HD Remaster - Playtime: 1 hr. just don't have the attention span to put in another 60 hrs. liked what i played, just not compelled to continue

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch - Playtime: 20 hrs. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - Playtime: 2 hrs. but other things kept pulling me away and i never went back. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Playtime: 5 hrs. while i enjoyed the lion's share of the game, between some wonky controls and bad checkpoints i rage quit this one. was bored almost immediately.įreedom Wars - Playtime: 2 hrs. didn't give it much of a chance, but i do know that most first-person games turn me off.Įverybody's Gone to the Rapture - Playtime. liked it a lot, but got stuck on a boss and didn't feel like grinding.ĭying Light - Playtime 2-3 hrs. this was okay, i just don't think i like point-and-click adventures games much.Ĭhild of Light - Playtime: 5 hrs. did not like the aesthetic.īroken Age - Playtime: 70% through game. some of these games i'd still like to go back to, but for now i've got too much other stuff to check out before digging these back up.Īxiom Verge - Playtime: 2 hrs? just didn't hook me. I didn't think it was that great though, so you didn't miss too much. Not everything clicks with everyone, and those are perfectly good reasons for not enjoying something.Īlso, I'm one of those weird people who couldn't get into The Dark Descent at all, but I didn't have any trouble with Hamnesia. While I liked both Braid and World of Goo a lot, I totally understand your complaints.

I get bored of the games themselves fairly quickly, but seeing how many mods I can throw at them before they blow up always gets me a couple dozen hours out of them somehow. If I've figured out the solution to a puzzle, I don't like spending hours fine-tuning the execution of it in order to get a passing grade-the "aha" should proceed swiftly to a "what's next"?I have the exact same experience with the Elder Scrolls games. World of Goo: This game has a super clever concept, but there's something about the physics-based nature of it that grated on me. It just drags on too long with "same stuff, bigger numbers", and some of the boss battles are unpleasant and unfair. Tried this a couple of times, love the visual style and exploration. Not enough variety to the action, perhaps. Once I get twenty-five hours or so in to the game itself, I burn out. When I discovered that you basically need to 100% the game in order to beat it, I noped out.Įlder Scrolls: Oblivion and Skyrim: I get a huge kick out of futzing with mods. Except me, apparently! I enjoyed its core gameplay, but some of the puzzles got to be so obtuse and precise I wasn't enjoying the constant bafflement and failure. I could probably hit up a walkthrough if I'm desperate, but the letdown has me unexcited about the possibility.īraid: Indie darling. I put it aside, started a new game a year or so later: same result.

Not a puzzle I couldn't solve or a monster I couldn't figure out how to evade, just a situation where I'd explored everything in sight but there was no indication of how I was supposed to move forward. If we're dumping out our lists, I'm down! I have 22 entries in the list, and some are not especially noteworthy, but here's a few that are worth mention.Īmnesia: A Machine for Pigs: I loved Dark Descent, so I eagerly pounced on this sequel once it reached a decent price.
